The Canadian National Exhibition is easily one of the most talked about summer events in Toronto, Canada. It’s an annual fair that takes over the Exhibition grounds offering visitors unique shopping, fun (bizarre fair foods), games, shows, midway rides and much more. We’ve been going to the CNE since we were both kids and it’s a spectacular family activity.
Now, you can make a staycation or vacation out of the CNE by booking a room at Hotel X Toronto, which is mere footsteps from the entrance to the fair. In fact, you can watch the midway go ’round and ’round and smell the sweet treats from any of the north facing hotel windows/balconies and the rooftop pool.
Whether you’re visiting the CNE from out of town, or you’re a Torontonian looking to end summer with a bang, consider turning your outing to the Ex (Let’s go to the Ex) an over-nighter with a hotel stay. It’s an easy way to avoid traffic snarls (leave for home mid-day) and allow you and your family a little resting spot amidst all of the fair action.
What else is at Hotel X Toronto for young families?
If you’re staying at Hotel X Toronto with your little ones, visiting the CNE is only part of the fun! The hotel itself offers a Play Centre for children which features a large gymnasium packed full of activities/sports equipment for kids of all ages and stages as well as a quieter play area full of books, crafts, board games, toddler toys, cars, a train set, stacking blocks and much more (there’s even an area for video-gamers and a crib for tots).
For a nominal fee, you can leave your kids here, supervised by experienced staff, while you take a break in the gym, yoga studio, downstairs or rooftop bar, the pool and so on. This is our favourite hotel in Toronto because our kids adore the activity area and it gives us a bit of time to ourselves.
On-property restaurants are kid-friendly as well offering a range of healthy meals.
There’s also on on-site movie theatre that features free movies for hotel guests from Thursday to Sunday (movies subject to change so always check the showtime schedule).
Overall, this is a great place to stay with your little ones for many reasons, which we’ve rounded up before.
If you’re planning a trip to the Canadian National Exhibition, turning it into a summer mini-vacation is now totally possible and with minimal planning. Let us know if you have any questions about our experience at Hotel X Toronto. We’re always happy to answer…
