During the holiday season we often plan activities centred around festive lights, merry tunes and the jolly man himself. Don’t get my wrong — we adore all of that!
But, on top of the festive cheer, it’s nice to find other options as well. At Hotel X Toronto, you can also experience something new and a little different this year: they’ve got a family show like none other we’ve seen. Starting December 13th, The Second City Improv Showdown takes place right in the hotel’s main cinema.
We previewed the show with our boys (aged three and five years) and, to be honest, we were a bit nervous because we weren’t sure how they’d handle a comedy show.
But, they were great! This family-focused improv show basically combines elements of YouTube videos, school and Netflix shows into a live performance. Kids are encouraged to participate in the showdown by yelling out answers, dancing, getting up on stage and more.
Two hilarious teams of top-notch improvisers face off in a winner takes all showdown and they use audience help and suggestions. No two shows are the same so you can come back time and again. It’s specially designed for kids (and the old people in charge of them).
High-energy characters? Check! All the Fortnite dances you can handle? Check! A scene with costumes, an alien and a thousand pound watermelon? Who knows! It’s an Improv Showdown – anything can happen (and probably will) depending on what kids yell out!SCHEDULE
