RV Packing List for Families
Knowing what to bring on your family RV trip can make or break the experience. Forgetting an essential item can leave you rushing off to find it somewhere (which isn’t always easy in cottage country) or sadly going without it.
Don’t let that happen to you! Here is a great list of items to get you started. After this list, everything else is just bonus:
- Clothes (remember layers like sweatpants, long sleeves, warmer PJs, socks)
- Personal items (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap etc)
- Footwear: water shoes, running shoes, rain boots, hiking footwear, flip flops/slides
- Wash basin for dishes (similar to a dish drying rack)
- Dish soap, sponge or scrub brush
- Broom to sweep
- Exterior rug to set up exterior living space
- Picnic table cover (waterproof tablecloth)
- Folding chairs (chairs for outside RV/around fire pit)
- Grill for fire pit
- Charcoal, fire starter, kindle/wood, matches
- Flashlights & batteries
- Bug spray & after bite
- First aid kit
- Exterior bug deterrent (candles or infrared)
- Pots & frying pan (if you don’t have kitchen ware included)
- Toaster
- Sharp knives for carving and cutting
- Dish cloths and drying cloths (if not provided)
- Disinfectant wipes
- Bedding, pillows, towels and linen (if not provided)
- Extra chargers for phones and any electronic devices
- DVDs if RV comes equipped with DVD player
- Board games, rainy day activities (Play-doh, kinetic sand, puzzles)
- Kids travel potty (if traveling with toddlers)
Note: if you’re traveling with an infant, you will need to adjust this list accordingly. The key is to make sure you have enough outdoor accessories to make the exterior of the RV enjoyable. Bring a large outdoor rug, chairs, a play-pen, bikes, helmets etc.
