Excuses, excuses…

It’s that time of year, when fall rolls in bringing with it jeans, cardigans, knits, boots and so on. Say ‘so long’ to revealing bathing suits, tank tops and shorts.

This annual wardrobe shift also signifies the time of year when it’s harder for me to feel motivated to keep fit.  Although I enjoy working out for the simple pleasure of what it does to my mind and body, I’m pretty good at coming up with excuses on why I just can’t work out today (or tomorrow, or the day after).

The problem for me is that I travel a lot and often to sunny destinations in the off-season.  I feel the pressure to keep relatively toned — at least fit enough that I can still fit in to my summer clothes 365 days a year.

Now, it might not be as strenuous as the lives of Victoria’s Secret models, but it’s enough pressure that I actually try to figure out how to balance what is going in and what is going out (energy) on a daily basis.

I just sat down to a few too many Halloween candy snacks (why does it have to hit shelves so early???), which inspired this post.  Now, I’m desperately trying to muster up the energy and fortitude to get out there in the fresh sunshine and burn some of it off.

Anyone else feeling the pressure to #makeithappen?  What motivates you and your family to get out there and be active on days when your mind is telling you otherwise?
